Chubby Checker's version of the song was released in 1960 and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in mid-September of 1960. At the time, "The Twist' did something that had never been done before which was to top the charts again in 1962. "Let's Twist Again" was released by Chubby Checker in June, 1961.
